BUCOLIC
CONCEPT
This collection is inspired by the new narrative of escapism that covid-19 has introduced, our fantasies of escapism have become increasingly focused on the re-gaining sense of control and autonomy over our lives. Instead of escaping every day, we are now looking to escape into every day.
For example, the Cottage Core-ists (Cottage Core movement) fantasize about having their own rural idylls, where they are in complete control of their surroundings – growing their own plants, making their own food, and crafting their own clothes.
Analog activities like crochet, gardening, hand embroidery, sewing, sourdough starters have boomed during lockdown – so much so that the term, “Grand Millennials,” is now a thing!
AIM
My aim for this collection was to bring sights of nature inside our homes, I focused on country life illustrations because that is what I missed the most in Lockdown. This collection is very personal to me, I enjoyed the whole process of gathering imagery, research, drawing and then visualizing my designs on to potential products.
I have also added hints of my goldwork embroidery to embellish my patterns and make them unique, Goldwork is something that I have been doing since I was 15. It’s a satisfying technique. It's calming. It offers serenity.
IMAGERY AND PROCESS
The detailed drawings are from my visit to horseman botanical gardens and museum last year, the figures are from the ceramic ornaments I found at local OXFAM and BRITISH Red Cross shops.
I used my traditional style Embroidery Frame (40 by 60 cm) and French bullion wires with silk threads. My love for raised surfaces and textures is quite evident in my work, my printing processes include lino printing/silk-screen printing /Devore/reactive dye and disperse printing. The inky imperfections are my favorite (mostly)!
I enjoy testing my crazy ideas in the print room, like scanning my embroidery for screen print and using household waste to create textures.
A range of eye-catching, vibrant conversational designs, Eco-chic style for multipurpose fabrics and wallcoverings.
POTENTIAL PRODUCTS
Soft furnishings, Wall-coverings, Upholstery, Bags, Homeware, Wall décor ,Panels and many more.

LET'S SAVE THE OCEAN !
A collection of printed textiles based on
MY EMOTIONAL RESPONSE TO OCEAN PLASTIC - Plastic waste — it’s everywhere! Every ocean. Every beach. Every river. Every community. It’s even in your drinking water. (Deep gulp. Swallow. Raise eyebrows and open eyes wide — yeah, I had the same reaction.) Humanity’s plastic footprint is probably more dangerous than its carbon footprint. My research included visits to local markets, observing and photographing my potential materials. I then collected a range of samples that included plastic baskets from local shop keepers, pen lids, and fishing nets along with seaweed from the beach and some discarded items from daily life. I started with drawings of waste items that were then scanned and enhanced digitally. I feel amazed when I look at my designs - actual beautiful patterns from waste!
This will be on display in Quadrant - Swansea City Centre after lockdown.

ARTISAN-GEO FLORAL
Artisan-Geo floral is inspired by the new narrative of escapism that covid-19 has introduced, our fantasies of escapism have become increasingly focused on re-gaining a sense of control and autonomy over our lives. Instead of escaping every day, we are now looking to escape into the every day.
For an example, the Cottage Core-ists (Cottage Core movement) fantasize about having their own rural idylls, where they are in complete control of their surroundings – growing their own plants, making their own food and crafting their own clothes.
Analog activities like crochet, gardening, sourdough starters have boomed during lockdown – so much so that the term, “Grand Millennials,” is now a thing!
All these different aspects of my research influenced the designs in this collection.
Add Dimension to any room with this range of sophisticated wallpapers and fabrics, influenced by the mood for modern geometrics.
I have combined florals and angular shapes to create these designs, that have an element of hand-made craftsmanship to them.
The florals are a contemporary take on a leaf-trail design and resemble the nineteenth century’s carved wooden panels. A perfect backdrop to natural wood furniture pieces.
I started with drawing direct from nature and from photos that I take on my phone, a few bits and pieces from my sketches ended up on screen, where I played around with how they might repeat, but I prefer doing things the old fashioned way; cutting my sketches up into tiles and rearranging their sequence to form the repeat , I carved my designs into three different lino sheets, 2 small 10 by 15 cm each and one massive 40 by 40 cm.
Lino printing allowed me absolute control over colours, motif and repeat of my print. A process that I find hugely satisfying and addictive.
I love the inky imperfections. The occasional patch of lighter pressure or a blurred edge.
